Pulstar Pulse Plugs may look similar to spark plugs on the outside, but inside the technological advances of Pulstar are evident. Pulse plugs feature a unique built-in capacitor-based circuit that captures energy normally wasted by spark plugs. This energy is released in an amazingly powerful and quick (two nanosecond) high-energy pulse, which generates a spark with 20,000 times greater energy than any spark plug. Because this energy is stored in the built-in capacitor of the pulse plug, rather than routed through the plug as with spark plugs, ignition is available at the exact moment needed, resulting in more efficient and cleaner combustion of the fuel mixture. This improved efficiency has a direct relation to improved fuel efficiency as more of the fuel mixture is burned, lower CO2 emissions and even increases in horsepower and torque. Independent test confirm the results of these efficiencies at up to 4.4 more in mpg and CO2 emissions reduced by a quarter ton annually.

Pulsed power technology is the science of storing power for a relatively long period of time and then discharging the stored power in an instantaneous pulse of energy.
